This is the all new and upcoming SkyDemon Mobile MD GPS, a revolution in the world of aviation GPS. It’s the first 5” navigation device to be offered below £1000 and the power of its software is equivalent to high-end panel-mounted devices. VFR pilots using the Mobile MD in conjunction with SkyDemon Plan (included) have more briefing data available in flight than many commercial pilots.

Adaptive Charts: SkyDemon charts are unique and proprietary, and offer many benefits over static charts designed for printing. There is no per-chart cost and charts for most of Europe are included in the price. They offer a consistent depiction of features for all countries and can be rotated so track is up without loss of quality or legibility. They adapt themselves to your flight profile, hiding unnecessary detail for a much clearer screen.

Virtual Radar: This technology pioneered in SkyDemon sends out virtual pings along your route ahead, returning information about the terrain, airspace, NOTAM, obstructions and other features along your trajectory. It’s updated every few seconds, shown in the window below the main map and customers love the situational awareness it brings. It powers onscreen warnings about approaching airspace, NOTAM, obstacles, terrain and more.

Weather Briefing:
Unlike any other GPS, the SkyDemon can tell you what the wind is (forecast to be) doing outside the aircraft, as you fly. It can tell you how much head or tailwind there is, and about all observed and forecast weather conditions at any airfield near to the route you are flying. All this information is loaded onto the unit before takeoff when connected to SkyDemon Plan (included). TAF and METAR can be fully decoded onscreen.

NOTAM Briefing and Plotting:
A full NOTAM briefing can be obtained on the device itself, even if your plans change and you decide to take a different route. In addition, SkyDemon interprets NOTAM warnings and can usually depict them in fine detail on the charts, showing (for example) Red Arrows transits and temporary restrictions.

Other USPs:
The Instrument View offers an alternative to the chart view for pilots who prefer to fly purely on instruments, and is centred around a large HSI instrument. Nearby Air Traffic Services provides an instant list of people you can talk to on the radio at your current position. Our own airfield plates offer runway layout, contact details and other information for many airfields on the chart. A live PLOG shows your progress through your route.
